RON ACIERNO
LEADER/OWNER OF RON AND THE CLASSICS.
LEAD VOCALIST
Ron was born and raised on Long Island.
He began playing guitar and singing in college, (U Va.).
After graduation Ron continued his music appearing at local New York venues and on local television as a single performer.
In the sixties Ron took a leave of absences from graduate school to perform at many of Miami Beach’s ocean front hotels, (including The Dunes, Doral, Castaways Diplomat and Miami’s Playboy Club.
Ron was offered a huge break to perform 10 weeks at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas . Ron was informed that Frank Sinatra had been told about him and that Mr. Sinatra was coming to see him opening night. But due to his love for a woman, Ron sadly decided to decline that offer.
Soon after Ron and the woman parted ways and he quit “show business” and returned to finish graduate school to become a psychology professor and psychotherapist.
Thirty ~six years later in 2001, Ron resumed his singing career as a single performer.
Ron played guitar and sang at monthly barbeques on the Dunedin Causeway, where Dr. Ron, a Chiropracter asked if he could come and join Ron to sing some harmony, That was the begining of the Ron, Ron Duo. After a year,
Dr Ron decided to move to Arizona to be near his family so Ron placed an add on the bulletin board of Stevie B’S guitar store. After several people who said they could sing harmony and play guitar (who couldn’t do it very well), he hired Jay Pendleton.
A few months following, a female singer was added and the groups name was changed to Ron And The Classics.
Ron decided to expand the group to four.
After expanding the group to four Ron And The Classics performed a concert at Old’s Park for the City of Oldsmar where Linda joined the group.
Since then Ron And The Classics have performed throughout Pinellas, Pasco & Hillsboro Counties at various venues and concerts.
