Meet Mark Feldman: Dedicated Deputy Grand Knight and Community Leader

Mark Feldman serves as the Deputy Grand Knight for Barney Gonyea Council 7109 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, Florida. His background, marked by two distinguished careers, highlights his dedication to service, faith, and community. Mark’s leadership within the Knights of Columbus has brought a wealth of experience, commitment, and an enduring passion for serving others.

A Legacy of Service: U.S. Coast Guard Career
Mark’s first career spanned an impressive 24 years in the United States Coast Guard. As a helicopter pilot, he accumulated over 7,000 flight hours and took part in a significant number of missions aimed at saving lives and upholding justice. His service included 458 Search and Rescue (SAR) Missions, where his dedication helped save lives in countless critical situations. Beyond rescue operations, Mark also participated in 50 narcotics missions, during which he helped confiscate over 65,000 pounds of marijuana and cocaine. His career in the Coast Guard not only highlights his bravery and skill but also his dedication to protecting and serving the greater community.

A Second Career of Mentorship: High School Math Teacher and Football Coach
After retiring from the Coast Guard, Mark embarked on a new journey as a High School Math Teacher for 20 years. He taught Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry, helping students navigate these essential subjects and fostering a love of learning. His commitment to education was not confined to the classroom—Mark also served as a High School Football Coach, focusing on the offensive side of the game. His mentorship and leadership both in the classroom and on the field have impacted countless young lives, teaching students valuable skills in both academics and sportsmanship.

Community Involvement as a Referee
Even in retirement, Mark has continued his involvement in youth development by becoming a Volleyball and Softball Referee for High School and Middle School teams. Over the past 8 years, his passion for sports and mentorship has been reflected in his work as an official, where he helps create a fair and enjoyable environment for students to compete and grow.

Dedication to Espiritu Santo Catholic Church
Mark and his wife, Elaine, are active and devout members of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church. Together, they serve as Sacristans and Eucharistic Ministers at the Sunday 9:00 AM Mass. Their service to the church is an essential part of their spiritual journey, and their deep faith is reflected in their commitment to their roles. Elaine also serves as a wedding coordinator, helping couples prepare for one of the most significant moments in their lives as they begin their journey in the sacrament of marriage.
